Summer 07

Here I am at the Summer Institute (June 6-7 and June 11-12) attempting to start a blog, something I don't know too much about but that sure looks like it has a lot of possibilities for the classroom. Some of my ideas for using it for the coming school year are
1. a place for students to respond to assigned readings
2. a place for students to react to each other's responses to these readings
3. a place for me to respond to students' reactions to the readings or to others' responses

This is just a start, but I can see the possiblities are endless.

I like your ideas and am sure you will do great! I think the connection with reading will be a natural fit for a blog.

I'm hoping that the blog will allow those students who are shy to respond openly to quesstions and share more about themselves.

I just saw a great idea to tie in literature to a blog. A librarian had a contest for students to write the end of the Harry Potter book that is coming out this summer. The writing was amazing and what a great idea! Take a look! http://www.bexley.k12.oh.us/hslib/harrypotter/contest.htm

I like the idea of students being able to interact with one another. It gives them a chance to "talk" to one another but it can be done throughout the day.

This may give those students who would usually not answer questions in class a way to share their thoughts anonymously. It will give them a feeling of belonging.
